Seems the issues with the title of this wiki have been dealt with. My remaining objection might be the existence of a manifesto at all. This is certainly a "public declaration of principles," but is it necessary? Actions speak louder than words.
I too saw a brilliant flash when I read The Cluetrain Manifesto and Gonzo Marketing. But I haven't seen much happen since those were published.
Other than Martin Luther's, I can't recall any manifestos that have led to sustainable change in a society. (I'm sure someone will correct me. Still ....)
I believe the general ideas posted here are inevitable. Marketing will change in time. Some of us will try to hasten this inevitability and some of us will cling to what is known and comfortable. Manifesto or not, change: It is a comin'.
How dare you make such a website and attempt to bring about such an idea. How dare you spit on the graves of the intellectuals murdered by people like Pol Pot.
You make me sick.
I think whomever wrote the above, is missing the point. This is not about communism, or I would not be here. You may as well be discussing the weather as the points you raise above. This is about marketing, and understanding change, and if we happen to use old Karl as a metaphor, then thats all thats intended.
How amazingly disingenuous to say that this "isn't about communism." You have a god damned hammer and sickle on the main page and the description of this wiki begins "Just as Marx said..." Obviously the point of the wiki is marketing, but it you who is missing _my_ point: using a political ideology responsible for the deaths of countless millions as a backdrop for your synthesized would-be meme is tactless and naive. "All thats (sic) intended" by your flagrant use of Communist imagery and text is that you don't think murderous dictatorships are an inappropriate analogy for new ways of marketing goods and services to people.
@feh - fyi...I (Tara...the manifesto originator) wasn't the person who wrote the comment above...but you do make good points. I am working this weekend on separating the marxist stuff from this theory. I agree that it does distract from what I'm trying to say. It is also, as one of my commenters said, myopic in the historical sense. Thank you for your feedback. Really. (Tara 'Miss Rogue' Hunt)
